Finish Strong Basketball camp

Hi Everyone , Finish Strong Staff is proud to announce the Finish Strong Basketball camp starting May 18/21. The camp will focus on ball handling , shooting and full court team play. The camp will be intense and high speed. Coach David Knight(co-founder) and Cap University gaurd standout Keith Nath will be the host of the camp .. These guys bring a lot of experience and knowlegde to the camp and will be presenting it all to you. The camp is opein to ; Grade 5-7 co-ed start time 10am-12 pm. Grade 8-11 co-ed start time 12pm-2pm. Finish Strong basketball News and updates

Hi everyone , Its been a while since the last update about the program . So a lot has happend over the last few months and a lot fo good things for the Finish Strong basketball family. First off I am proud to say that the Finish Strong U13 boys basketball team won their first ever basketball tournament. The tournament was the Metroplis Burnaby Eagles Classic C Division. The team Lead by Jason Tantengco (Tournament MVP )and Kenan Krupic(Game MVP) carried the load of the offense through out the tournament and beat out a lot of top compititetion . The most highlighted team they beat was the Drive U13 team and the Eagles U13 team they beat in the finals. The team then entered the Baksetball U13 Club championship hosted a tteh Richmond Olympic Oval . The U13 Finish Strong team came in ranked 7th overal and went 3-1 in the A division. But in the playoffs they face some top and challenging teams and finished a whopping 4th place overal.So there was some very remarkable accomplishments in these two Tournaments. Way to go Finish Strong Basketball !!! The Finish Strong U13 boys 2012 team had some very strong players ; Jason Tanengco Kenan Krupic Kiante Knight Amir Krupic Joey Ux Greg Etom Evan Kim Daniel Nazar Tyrell Ian Jai Nicholas So Marcus Waymen Francis Wu Kevin Zhang Coach: David Knight These guys played their hearts out adn worked very hard to accomplish thier goal!

Killanrey Cougers JR Boys NEW coach !

It's been a while since we have posted any new things pn this blog but life gets a little busy at times.

Here at Finish Strong basketball would love to mention that David Knight (co-founder of Finish Strong Basketball) has accepted to be head coach of the Jr boys grade 10 basketball squad for Killanrey Cougars this season.

Coach David Knight brings a ton of experince from coaching the grass roots level to highschool basketball . This grade 10 team will be a huge project but coach Knight says " he loves the challenge and would love to upset the power house teams they will face" . Coach Knight will continue as well to coach his Nighthoops Champlain jr boys sqaud as well this season prior coaching the Killarney squad .

First day of practice for coach Knight starts next Wednesday at Killarney highschool . Stay tunned for all of the Killarney jr Boys progress this season .

Our first throwback installment featuring Head Coach David Knight!

I am one of the Head coaches and co-founders of the Finish Strong Basketball program. Bio: Basketball has been apart of most of my life. I had played a bunch of sports when I was a kid, but basketball really got my attention when I got to high school. I played high school basketball from grade 8-12 at Tupper Secondary School. After high school basketball I continued my career playing a season of college with the Langara Falcons back in 2000. After suffering a bad Achilles injury I decided to take a leave and focus on my studies. After I finished school, I received my diploma in 'Recreation' and started working with youth. I developed a bunch of basketball programs and started coaching a program called Night hoops. I have coached Night hoops for about 7 years now and I recently won the Coach of the year. Along with Night hoops I also started developing a program of my own called 'Champlain U13 basketball program.' I have been apart of that program for 4 years now, and many of our players have continued on to playing in high school and excelling. This past year many of my former players achieved a 2nd place finish at the 'BC Grade 8 basketball provincials.' I am currently a Youth Sports programmer for the Vancouver school board and a Basketball coach as well.

Player History: Played from grade 8-12, grade 10 leading scorer (1993) grade 10 Kits invitational MVP(1993), grade 11 Dover bay 3pt champ(1994), grade 12 Dover bay Tournament leading rebounder (1995). Basketball BC elite U17 team (1995). Coaching History : Nighthoops Basketball program 2005-2011, Basketball Regional U15 East Vancouver Team, Champlain U13 2007-present.
